Preserve your runway.

The early-stage problem

You need great people before you have a big recruiting budget.

Growing Consumer companies often need experienced leaders and specialized talent long before it makes sense to build a large internal recruiting organization. Traditional executive search can cost tens of thousands of dollars for a single hire. As hiring needs grow, those fees can consume capital founders would rather put toward inventory, marketing, product, distribution, and growth. Foundation Ventures creates another option.

Outcome: Build the team while preserving more runway.

The model

We invest our recruiting capability alongside you.

Foundation Ventures is not a discount recruiting program. For companies Foundation RPO believes in, we’re willing to trade a portion of our normal cash economics for ownership, aligning our success with the long-term success of the business.

01 / STEP

Apply

Tell us about the company, founders, product, traction, funding, and the people you need to hire.

02 / STEP

We evaluate the opportunity

We look at the business as a strategic partner would: stage, traction, leadership, capitalization, hiring needs, and our ability to materially help.

03 / STEP

Structure the partnership

If there is a fit, we develop a partnership around the company’s actual hiring needs using an individually negotiated combination of cash and equity.

Then Foundation RPO begins recruiting the agreed positions. Every partnership is structured individually. There is no required minimum or maximum number of hires. The number and type of searches are part of that discussion; scope is negotiated case by case.

This is a selective strategic partnership—not free recruiting, a mass-market startup discount, a contingency recruiting model or venture capital financing. Companies must apply and be accepted.

Who it’s for

We don’t partner with every startup.

Trading recruiting fees for equity means Foundation RPO is making an investment decision too. We limit the program to companies where our recruiting capability can create meaningful enterprise value.

01 / FIT

Consumer-focused

The company operates within or adjacent to the Consumer ecosystem.

02 / FIT

Early stage

Generally pre-seed through Series A, although exceptional companies outside those stages may be considered.

03 / FIT

Real traction

Evidence customers want the product—through revenue, growth, retail adoption, distribution, recurring demand, or another meaningful validation.

04 / FIT

Strong founder

A founder or leadership team Foundation RPO believes can attract great people and build a meaningful company.

05 / FIT

Funded or financially viable

Enough capital or operating resources to employ the people being recruited.

06 / FIT

Important hiring needs

Leadership, specialized, or strategic hiring where Foundation RPO believes its capabilities can materially help. A single critical hire may potentially qualify.

07 / FIT

Aligned partnership

A willingness to treat Foundation RPO as a long-term partner rather than simply a recruiting vendor.

A different kind of alignment

Think of us as an investor in your leadership team.

Traditional investors contribute capital. Foundation RPO contributes recruiting infrastructure, talent intelligence, and the work required to identify and recruit the people who can help turn that capital into a stronger company.

For companies we believe in, we’re willing to put some of our economics at risk alongside the founders.

We win when the companies we support win.

How the partnership works

Cash + equity.
Built around the company.

There is no one-size-fits-all Foundation Ventures deal. Every partnership is built around the company, the people it needs to hire, and the value Foundation RPO expects to contribute.

01 / CASH

Reduced cash component

The company pays a portion of Foundation RPO’s normal recruiting economics in cash. This ensures both sides are committed to the engagement and helps support the resources required to execute the work.

02 / EQUITY

Equity component

Foundation RPO accepts equity consideration for a portion of the value of the engagement. The structure depends on company stage, valuation, hiring requirements, recruiting scope, and other factors and is documented separately for every partnership.

The roles, recruiting scope, cash component, equity component, and applicable milestones are determined individually for each partnership. Equity structure is determined as part of each individual partnership.

Foundation Ventures engagements are subject to separate commercial and legal agreements. Nothing on this page constitutes an offer to purchase or sell securities, investment advice, or a commitment to provide services.

Why Foundation RPO

Consumer is already our world.

Foundation RPO isn’t learning your industry during the search. FoundationOS connects talent across the Consumer ecosystem, including Beauty & Personal Care, Food & Beverage, Health & Wellness, Nutrition & Supplements, Pet, Household & Home, Baby & Kids, Apparel & Accessories, and Lifestyle & Consumer Products.

That allows us to search across adjacent companies, categories, channels, retailers, and functions instead of treating every role as an isolated search.

Foundation Ventures

The company you’re building will only be as strong as the people you build it with.

If you’re building an early-stage Consumer company and need exceptional people without draining the capital required to grow, Foundation Ventures may be the right partnership.

Selective. Founder-focused. Built for Consumer.
